CREW PROFILES

CAPTAIN: TOBY GITSHAM
Toby grew up on the east coast of South Africa near the city of Durban. After earning a degree in economics at the University of South Africa he joined the international yachting industry as a deckhand. He worked his way up through the ranks and became a Captain in 2002. His knowledge of the world’s top cruising grounds is outstanding, having navigated the icy fjord regions in Scandinavia and Patagonia to the warm waters of the Caribbean and Mediterranean seas. Toby is an excellent Captain and likes nothing more than having guests aboard enjoying themselves in a safe and relaxed environment.

CHIEF ENGINEER: BARDUR ARNASON
Bardur “BAR-U-R” (or just call him “DAVE”) was born and raised in the Faroe Islands. He was educated as an Y2 Master Mariner in the Danish merchant navy and has a background as an electrician/blacksmith. He has worked on commercial container vessels since 2000, recently joining the international yachting industry this year. His engineering expertise will allow you smooth and problem free cruising.

FIRST MATE: WALTER REYNOLDS
Walter is from Whakatane, New Zealand. He has worked onboard Private Lives for 2 years and his extensive knowledge of this yacht is outstanding. He is energetic, enthusiastic and is an experienced seafarer with the ambition to become a super yacht Captain. He enjoys surfing, fishing and diving.

DECKHAND: JOSH BOOTS
Josh grew up in Byron Bay, Australia and moved to Sydney in his early 20’s where he furthered his music career recording music for the surf company Quiksilver. In 2006, Josh decided to develop his yachting skills onboard small charter boats on Sydney harbor. He came to Europe to work on bigger boats and bring his music to a bigger audience. His other interests include surfing, wakeboarding, fishing and travel.

CHEF: PETER WILLIAMS
Peter is from Noosa Heads, Australia. Having worked in Noosa’s top restaurant for 10 years, Peter saw an opportunity as a Yacht Chef and has never looked back. With 1 year of yachting experience, his foods will surely empress any client. His range of specialties includes French, Italian, Asian and Global Fusion. Peter’s hobbies are surfing and wakeboarding.

CHIEF STEWARDESS: GERALDINE CHILDS-GITSHAM
Geraldine is from Melbourne, Australia. She completed a degree in sports medicine (physiotherapies /myotherapies) and worked for the Australian Institute of Sport for 5 years. Geraldine joined the international yachting industry in 1999 and during this time she has visited 70 countries on 6 continents throughout the world, onboard expedition style private and charter yachts. Her interests include global gastronomy, health and wellness.

STEWARDESS: KIMBERLEY FISHER
Kimberley is from Sydney, Australia. This is her first year in the yachting industry. After graduating her events management degree, she decided to spend time travelling and furthering her skills within the yachting industry. Kimberley enjoys travel and meeting new people.
