DARLING offers three spacious guest accommodations, each with en suite bathroom, and other entertainment areas to provide a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Crew quarters are fully separate to allow the utmost in privacy. Her sensible layout further encompasses a generous dining area with panoramic views, plenty of deck space and a navigation station allowing for a direct line-of-sight with the outside world from the cozy comfort of the deckhouse interior.

DARLING was built for performance with a cutter rigged carbon fiber mast with hydraulic in-boom furling, hydraulic furling headsail and staysail.

The cockpit is split between a separate helm/crew working area and a 10-foot-long central guest cockpit adjacent to the companionway, which is both comfortable and well protected for on deck dining.

The crew of DARLING, Simon, Karon and Chad look forward to welcoming you aboard.

Crew Profile
Captain Simon Hughes, Hostess Karon Mahy, and Mate Chad Natti look forward to extending a warm welcome to you aboard Darling. With over 79 collective years of sailing experience and some 120 thousand cruising miles between them, you could not be in better hands for your Oyster charter.

Both Simon and Karon grew up in Guernsey, Channel Islands. They both spent considerable time as young people cruising, racing and teaching dinghy sailing in Guernsey’s challenging tidal waters. Since 1998 both also share a passion for one design racing in the Melges 24 fleet in various regatta’s and championships around the world.

Simon became a professional yacht captain 15 years ago and has completed over 100 thousand sea miles in a variety of craft - crossing the Atlantic six times, the Pacific once, and sailing in European, American and Caribbean waters. Karon joined him in 2006 as delivery crew from Tahiti to New Zealand – and loved it so much that she traded in her commercial desk job for an intensive yacht cooking course and a career on the high seas.

Chad Natti is native to Gloucester, Massachusetts and completes Darling’s crew. Chad started dinghy sailing as a youngster participating in the Youth Sailing Program in his hometown. After 3 years he found himself sharing his experience with others and became responsible for running that very same Youth Sailing Program. Chad took his first steps as a deckhand in the yachting industry three years ago and has sailed some 15 thousand miles since. His passion for life, the ocean and all things outdoors continues to have a huge influence on everyone he meets.
