Crew Profile

Captain Gary Bush.
Gary’s early years were spent on the family sheep farm in the central part of the North Island of New Zealand. It was when the family moved to the coastal town of Tauranga when he was a teenager that he discovered his love for the ocean. Weekends - and some school days - were spent, fishing, diving, waterskiing, and on the beach. Despite this, Gary decided to train as a Civil Engineer which he combined with a career as a professional rugby player. This took him around the world playing rugby in Australia, Canada, Italy, and France. It was during the off-season while he was in Europe playing rugby that Gary discovered the Mediterranean Yachting industry. Starting his new career at the bottom he worked his way up to Captain.

Gary Joined BEVERLEY after a successful period aboard the 35m charter yacht MY PASSIONATA where his practical and professional ‘can do’ attitude was highly appreciated by his charter guests. He has a sound knowledge of the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, ensuring guests visit the best anchorages and see all the best sights.

Gary joined the build team of Beverley prior to construction commencing and oversaw the entire construction from start to finish. He therefore has the benefit of a very thorough knowledge of the yacht.
He is a keen golfer and skier when he gets the opportunity and still enjoys watching rugby. Gary maintains a home and family in Antibes, South of France.

Chef Cynthia Davis
Cynthia Davis was raised in Taupo, in central New Zealand. Her inspiration for cooking came at a very early age and she has always had a passion and love for food. After finishing school, she gained an apprenticeship at an award winning New Zealand restaurant. With the help of her Head Chef she was able to enter into many competitions throughout her apprenticeship, and had the opportunity to represent New Zealand in the 1994 International Salon Culinare in Singapore, where she gained a silver in the apprentice competition and bronze in the regional team competition.
After her apprenticeship she moved to London, where she worked for the next 7 ½ years learning British and Modern Mediterranean cooking under some acclaimed chefs in London restaurants such as Blakes Hotel, Delfinas, Palio’s and Alfred’s which included a stint as Head Chef. During this time Cynthia also free-lanced with some well-known London caterers such as By Word of Mouth, Mustard and Stephen Condon catering. From there she moved back to New Zealand and did a Certificate in Nutrition and became Head Chef of various restaurants serving eclectic Pacific rim and fusion style cuisine.
She has been in the yachting industry for the past 2 years on the yachts M/Y Rebellious and S/Y Magdalus Terzo. Cynthia is now looking forward to producing the finest quality cuisine for her guests on M/Y Beverley.
Along with cooking and eating, Cynthia enjoys keeping fit and learning about other cultures.

Jillaines experiences have proved very valuable in her role as Chief Stewardess onboard M/Y Beverley. She enjoys all aspects of the yacht and along with the 2nd Stewardess, will endeavour to make her guests’ time on board Beverley an experience to remember.
