Sailing the Adriatic - the coast, islands and marinas of Croatia

Day One
Pick up your Interpac Yachts Charter in Trogir or Split. Trogir is a wonderful medieval city. There are many medieval houses and churches from the 12-15 century. It is very close to the Split airport. Split is a more modern large city. It has many wonderful historical monuments to explore with one of the more interesting one being the Diocletian's Palace which was built in about 300 AD.

Day Two
Sail to Pakleni Island which is a short 28 mile sail and anchor in one of the quiet bays for lunch. Sail to Hvar Island about 1 mile and anchor off Hvar town for the evening. Fabulous! Settled in the 4th century, it is a historical town where vehicles are banned from its streets and piazza. Hvar town has to be one of the highlights of a cruise to this area.

Day Three
Sail to Korcula Island and stop for lunch in the pretty, quiet anchorage of Uvala Tri Luke on the South coast (19 miles). Take a beautiful 14 mile sail to Lastovo island and anchor off in Luka Velji Lago for the night. This island was closed off to foreigners for many years. As a result the island is totally unspoiled by tourist developments, which friendly people and breathtaking scenery. Visit the village of Lastovo with two fine churches. A castle up on the conical hill overlooks the quaint village. Very quiet and peaceful spot.

Day Four
Sail back to Korcula Island and stop for lunch off the village of Lumbarda (25 miles). Take a quick sail back to Korcula town and either dock or anchor off. The historical town of Korcula with its narrow streets, old buildings, walls and towers is a fascinating place and deserves plenty of time wandering around its streets, soaking up the atmosphere.

Day Five
Sail to Mljet Island (16 miles) and anchor off the village of Polace. The Western end of the island is a National Park. This island is one of the most enchanting in the Adriatic. In the bay off the village is a wonderful ruined castle built between the 3rd and 4th century. Be sure to take the bus/boat tour around the National Park. The boat will take yo across one of the two sea lakes (Veliko Jezero) and visit the islet in the middle where there is a wonderful 13th century Benedictine Monastery.

Day Six
Sail to Lopud Island (26 miles) and anchor off the beach for lunch on the south of the Island (Sunj) - there is not much sand in Croatia so make the most of this lovely beach! Sail past Dubrovnik and on the town of Cavtat (13 miles) and dock or anchor off the shore. Cavtat is a small and attractive town with a great waterfront with bars and restaurants.

Day Seven
Sail a 6 short miles to Dubrovnik and anchor off the town on the South side for lunch. Take a tour around this incredible historic town. Dubrovnik is a medieval walled town and is probably the most important tourist attraction in the whole of Croatia. It was badly damaged by the Serbs during the bitter way of 1991/1992, but has now been restored to her former glory. It is a vibrant and magnificent city with something to appeal to every taste. The defensive walls surrounding the old town are impressive, there are a number of museums, some fine public buildings and churches, and quaint narrow streets. Sail around to Gruz Harbour (6 miles) and dock there for convenience. The old town is a 10 minute ride in a taxi.

Day Eight
Take a scenic taxi tour around the area to see the magnificent views of the old town. This is just a sample of a seven night itinerary - you could easily spend 10 or more days in this area!
